Words for the Wild is a platform for new writing about the countryside run by myself and my friend, the fabulous Louise Taylor. We have been going for a few years and have a website full of stunning poems and stories and a wonderful print anthology. Click the image above to go to our website.
It has been hard work, and it is definitely a labour of love. We do everything ourselves – website design and maintenance; reading and selecting submissions; editing, setting and organising the print anthology, and tweeting etc when we publish a piece of writing.
We have had an amazing response from writers from all over the world. So many people are keen to support our mission – there’s a list of these wonderful people below. It has been surprising and heartening and humbling to receive work. So, what’s it all for? I hear you asking. This is what you might call our mission statement:
We are writers who love the countryside, and we want to stop the kind of development that will destroy our gorgeous green land; we want to conserve it for future generations. Of course we need houses but we also need to protect wildlife and retain these pockets of peacefulness where we can walk our dogs or jog or cycle or build dens, play or paint, or simply wander and think.
Our plan is to make a stir!
